IMMERSE

Denver Youth Naturally (DYN) brings youth together in an exciting program. The environmental benefits are obvious; a future generation comes to know and understand Colorado 's great outdoors. It allows young people to have a positive experience in the outdoors while providing self-confidence, self-esteem, and a connection to our natural world.

WHAT IS DYN ALL ABOUT?

  • DYN ignites curiosity and inspires youth in their academic studies, leadership development, and career exploration through the discovery of science and Colorado 's natural resources
  • Confidence and self-esteem are developed through hands-on field activities, local excursions, and overnight wilderness experiences
  • With long-term mentoring by biologists and other science professionals, DYN participants find the support to succeed in school
  • Ages 8 - 18

Did You Know...

The coyote is one of the most adaptable mammals found in a variety of habitats, ranging from deserts and grasslands to cities and suburbs. The coyote's natural habitat is open grasslands, but like the red fox, it will move where food is available. An opportunistic predator, the coyote uses many different hunting techniques to catch small mammals, such as rabbits. It may hunt alone to catch small prey or may join others to form a pack to hunt large mammals such as deer. The coyote resembles the wolf in many ways. Like the wolf, it marks the boundaries of its hunting territory with urine. It lacks the wolf's strength and stamina, but can run faster in hunting, reaching a speed of 40 miles an hour. The young are born in a burrow. During their first months the parents spend their time hunting; the hungry cubs feed on meat regurgitated by the adults.
