Did You Know...

The Rocky Mountain Goat - which is not really a goat at all (related to the bovine family (Cows/Cattle) - has a foot protected by a hoof. These hoofs makes this animal an unbelievably skillful climber. It scales the steepest cliffs and reaches heights of over 13,000 feet. When going downhill, the hoofs act as brakes. In climbing, it helps the animal jump easily from one ledge to another. The Mountain Goat is found in the N.W. and neighboring parts of Canada. It lives in small herds and graze on any vegetation it can find. The heavy, thick coat protects them against the coldest weather. The Puma and Eagle are among the Mountain Goat's few natural enemies. The usual cause of death are avalanches and deep snow.
